The Law of Attraction states that the essence of your most predominant thoughts are what will appear, sooner or later, in your life as people, events, circumstances, and things.  But thoughts alone have minimal creative power.  The feelings and emotion associated with your thoughts are what give them most of their creative power.

You can think of thought as the template that defines a manifestion/materialization and emotion as the power behind the thought.  The stronger the feelings and emotion associated with a thought the faster and better it will manifest into your reality!

Thoughts and emotion are energy, as is everything — that's why thoughts can become things — because THINGS are simply patterns of energy.  Subjectively, a thought associated with emotion FEELS STRONGER and, in fact, the energy field created by highly emotive thoughts is indeed stronger.

If you're skeptical about this, then you should try the experiment that physically demonstrates this from the book E-Squared: Do-It-Yourself Experiments That Prove Your Thoughts Create Your Reality, there's an experiment in there that uses wire coat hangers and drinking straws that let's you physically see the effect of your emotive thoughts (see video below).  This experiment is one of nine interesting and compelling experiments found in this highly recommended book which explains why thoughts are creative in a very entertaining style and from a very refreshing scientific perspective.

As discussed in other articles in my Law of Attraction Series there are two parts to deliberate creation — desire and expectation.  The dictionary defines DESIRE as a strong feeling of wanting to have something or wishing for something to happen.  In terms of manifestation, desire is the focusing of your thoughts and feelings clearly and strongly on what you want.

When you are deliberately thinking about what you want in your daily imagineering sessions, be sure to express your feelings and emotion as strongly as you can.  Don't just visualize your desire make it multi-sensory — smell it, hear it, feel it, taste it, as well as see it.  Play it out in your mind like a movie, see yourself having what you desire, and deeply feel and express the emotion, excitement, and satisfaction of its attainment.  Create the INNER expereince of having and being what you desire.

The importance of emotion in powerful manifestation is echoed by this statement made by Abraham via Esther Hicks in her book The Law of Attraction.

The thoughts that you think without bringing forth the feeling of strong emotion are not of great magnetic power.

Of course, the emotion you express must be genuine — you can't fool the universe.  This is one of the reasons why following your passion is encouraged by so many spiritual teachers.  When you pursue your dreams and do what you love you automatically have strong, genuine positive feelings which are a powerful force attracting exactly what you desire.

The more positive your thoughts and feelings, the faster and better manifestation occurs.

Luckily, you normally have plenty of strong positive feelings about things that you want.  The key is to let those feelings out and fully express them.  This is something that many adults in our society may not be good at — deeply feeling and expressing their emotions.  This is one of the reasons why you should find a private place to do your imagineering sessions — you want to be very uninhibited during these sessions.  Expressing your thoughts out loud also adds power to them, all the more reason for a private place.

One place where I find complete privacy is in my car when I'm driving around.  I'll often use this time to do affirmations, visualizations, prayers, etc. and passionately talk to myself and the Universe about my hopes, dreams, and desires.

I also use my late-night walks under the stars on the country road and in the field near my home for the same purpose.  Find something that works for you.

The Pitfall of Fear, Worry, and Negative Emotion

The great pitfall of the power of emotions is that if you let your mind wander to thoughts associated with strong negative emotions — fear, worry, etc — then you are powerfully attracting the very things that you are worried about.  Which by definition is stuff you DON'T WANT in your life.  This is why FEAR and WORRY are the greatest impediments to the manifestation your true desires!

This point is echoed in the following statement made by the great ancient Chinese philosopher, Lao Tzu.

Be careful what you water your dreams with. Water them with worry and fear and weeds will choke the life from your dream.

The silver lining to this is that negative emotions are an obvious indicator that you are thinking about something you don't want and thus serve as a tool to redirect your thoughts.  At any time during the day, as your mind wanders from thought to thought, if you find yourself feeling uneasy, uncomfortable, fearful, or worried it is a clear sign that you are thinking about something you DON'T WANT.

Your negative emotions are like a big red flag being waved in your face telling you to immediately switch to thinking about what you DO WANT rather than what you don't.  When you are thinking about something you want, it will make you feel good, not bad — remember this.

As an example let's say you start thinking about something going wrong with a project you are working on.  When you catch yourself doing this, simply stop imagining the worst and switch immediately to imagining the best possible outcome.  Imagine this outcome in vivid detail, feeling the excitement and satisfaction of it.  If you can't muster enough positivity to do this, then try replacing your worries with positive affirmations or prayers for help.

Positive affirmations are essentially statements to yourself and the Universe in the vein of "Yes It Will" instead of "No It Won't" or "Yes I Can" instead of "No I Can't".  Switching to positive affirmations distracts you from your worries for long enough for them to pass and focuses your thoughts and words on the positive outcomes which you desire.  If you want to learn more about the power of affirmations, and how to most effectively use them, I recommend the book The Power of Affirmations & The Secret to Their Success.

If you are feeling so discouraged that you can't bring yourself to make positive affirmational statements, then prayers for help are often a great approach to take.  Just ask the Universe, your spirit guides, or whatever/whoever you identify with out there for help staying optimistic.  Doing so distracts you from continued worrying and, believe it or not, help will come — you've got spirit guides whether you know it or not, and they are just waiting for you to ask for help.

Putting It All Together

Through the enormous power of your emotions you've been unwittingly making or breaking the manifestation of your true desires.  By deliberately thinking about what you want with strong positive emotion and deliberately avoiding thinking about anything that evokes negative emotion you can take your manifesting to a whole new level.
